What SmartCone is

The company behind the PatrIoT platform: in-house engineering since 2015, anchored by a single granted U.S. patent.

Company overview

SmartCone Technologies Inc. designs and builds a modular, sensor-agnostic IoT platform and a supporting hardware line for safety-critical industrial and infrastructure environments. The company is Canadian, and in-house engineering of the core platform began in 2015.

Every device SmartCone ships runs on the same underlying platform, engineered to keep working at the edge of the network, in the field, under real operating conditions.

U.S. Patent 10,713,527 Optics-based multi-dimensional object detection and tracking. Granted 2020. Inventors: Jacques Guigné and Nicholas Pace.

Nokia reseller partnership

SmartCone integrates into Nokia's MX Industrial Edge platform, reaching global Industry 4.0 deployments.

Two more applications proven

A proof-of-concept with AISIN Group proves vulnerable-road-user detection; a research agreement with the University of Ottawa's HEPRU lab proves heat-stress monitoring.

2021

Disney technology license

SmartCone signs a Critical Process Verification technology license with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, bringing to market solutions across worker safety, heat-stress monitoring, and process-compliance verification.

RampTrack proof-of-concept with United Airlines

Airport ramp-safety program begins, later expanded with Signature Flight Support, proving aviation ramp-safety detection.

Government-co-funded smart-transit R&D

Five-year, almost $9M program with Sustainable Development Technology Canada to develop "Corridor," a smart-transit technology suite.

2022

Disney master services agreement; NORCAT mining safety

A master services agreement with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts brings an on-site heat-exposure monitoring pilot; separately, a mining-safety collaboration begins with NORCAT — proving heat-stress monitoring and underground mining-safety applications.

2023

Houston POC; Disney People Counting live

A proof-of-concept with United Airlines in Houston proves heat-stress monitoring in aviation ground operations; separately, SmartCone's computer-vision People Counting deployment goes live at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts.

2024

United Airlines: co-development and Denver field trials

A multi-year agreement to co-develop heat-stress safety technology, plus RampTrack field trials of single-anchor UWB positioning and optical-convergence collision avoidance at Denver International Airport.

Hardware platform behind RoadDefender
